A shoot that was in the planning for...well, a year! My sweet daughter, Emmalyn, turned one on September 1st and I knew I wanted to do a whimsical shoot that represented her :) Since she was a baby we called her little bird...her newborn pictures had her wearing a birdcage veil headpiece, so I thought I wanted to continue on with the feather theme. I am going to attempt to do it annually on her birthday until she no longer will allow me to dress her up in feathers and take her picture!
For a few weeks I collected birdcages, birdhouses, lanterns, and mason jars. I wanted the scene to be very light and sweet. Some of my favorite touches were the feather garland from GreenBeltFarm on Etsy and the feather headband and romper from SouthernBabyDesigns.
I originally had wanted to use a teepee for this shoot, but couldn't find one that would flow with the rest of the props. Instead, I bought a large white bed canopy and we hung it up using a garden hook.
Here are a few of the elements from the styled shoot:
The cake I bought from Cakes-n-sweets located in Yelm, Washington. She did an awesome job and Emma thought the cake was very tasty!!
I'm so happy with the way they turned out, and I can't wait to do next year's shoot already!
Enjoy! Make sure to watch the slideshow at the end to see the complete set of pictures!
Here's the slideshow....who doesn't like pictures of a baby eating cake set to music?
