Emmalyn Rose is ONE {Cake Smash}

Monday, September 29, 2014

A shoot that was in the planning for...well, a year! My sweet daughter, Emmalyn, turned one on September 1st and I knew I wanted to do a whimsical shoot that represented her :) Since she was a baby we called her little bird...her newborn pictures had her wearing a birdcage veil headpiece, so I thought I wanted to continue on with the feather theme. I am going to attempt to do it annually on her birthday until she no longer will allow me to dress her up in feathers and take her picture!

For a few weeks I collected birdcages, birdhouses, lanterns, and mason jars. I wanted the scene to be very light and sweet. Some of my favorite touches were the feather garland from GreenBeltFarm on Etsy and the feather headband and romper from SouthernBabyDesigns

I originally had wanted to use a teepee for this shoot, but couldn't find one that would flow with the rest of the props. Instead, I bought a large white bed canopy and we hung it up using a garden hook.

Here are a few of the elements from the styled shoot:

The cake I bought from Cakes-n-sweets located in Yelm, Washington. She did an awesome job and Emma thought the cake was very tasty!!

I'm so happy with the way they turned out, and I can't wait to do next year's shoot already!

Enjoy! Make sure to watch the slideshow at the end to see the complete set of pictures!

Here's the slideshow....who doesn't like pictures of a baby eating cake set to music?

Swint Family {Pre-deployment} {Families}

Thursday, September 18, 2014
This was a family that I have worked with a lot! Every time I do a session with them I think it can't get any better, then this session happened. To say it was meaningful is an understatement...this family was saying goodbye the next day for too long :(

I loved being apart of their moments together and the time seemed to stand still for them for a few moments at least.

Thinking of this family, and all the families, who currently have loved ones deployed...it is such a hard time, but the wait is so worth the wait when they are back in your arms!!

The pictures speak for themselves, but then for the first time I put some to music...check out the video at the end...your heart will melt!

Enjoy!

The Hilbuns {Couples}

Wednesday, September 17, 2014
I was so happy to work with this couple after I had photographed their deployment homecoming a few weeks prior. There is just something so special about a soldier coming back to his wife and they wanted to document being reunited after 9 long months with a little photo session.

I knew Ryan would be wearing his uniform for the session, so I wanted a location that felt very "all-American."  Red barns, country fields, and one cute Americana flag scarf I had and we had one amazing couples session!

Ariana Teepee Session {Children}

Monday, September 8, 2014
I have been wanting to do a teepee prop shoot forever and this lucky photographer had the opportunity to do TWO within a week of each other. They were both so very different, however! Addie's shoot was simple and clean while Ariana's shoot was eclectic and shabby chic! I loved them both!

Ariana's mom knew exactly what she wanted from this shoot and had so many props already to work with! We combined her stuff with some of mine and it came out to be such a darling set up!

We also got a few family shots towards the end of the shoot, and although Ariana was staring to be done with being a model, she gave us a few out in the field with mom and dad too!

Enjoy!
